MEGADATA AND BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST (BIG DATA AND BI)

Job Details
As a Megadata Analyst, you will be a crucial part of producing innovative analyses from the big data environment of Geotab, the world's largest commercial telematics provider. Geotab's systems process over 40 billion pieces of data per day from over 3 million vehicles in over 100 countries around the world. We believe there is collective value in the massive amount of data from the sensors used by our vendor around the world. More importantly, we believe that this data can be used to improve the safety, infrastructure and productivity of our customers.
You will work with our team of data scientists and engineers who have organized our repository and created a series of near real-time and historical datasets categorized under Weather, Urban Infrastructure and Location Analytics.
You will bring insights to our partners and customers to directly benefit from the analysis and develop customer-focused products from these results. You will work closely with data specialists, data engineers, professional services, privacy and data governance, firmware and all other internal departments to achieve these goals.
Our Technology Framework
We leverage the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as our big data environment. Most of our development work takes place in Python, leveraging various megadata and data science tools in GCP (e.g. Dataflow) as well as in the open-source community (e.g. JupyterLab). SQLPython Modules: nupy, scipy, theano, keras, pytorch, pandas, matplotlib, xgbot, scikit-learn, nltk, seaborn, networkx, osmnx
Big Data Tools: JupyterLab, TensorFlow, Apache Spark , Beam, Dataflow, AirflowGoogle BigQuery, Kafka, Kubernetes
Essential functions and tasks
- Interact with Geotab's big data infrastructure on Google Bigquery using Python and SQLTu Process, clean, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis
- Examine large data sets to identify trends, develop graphs, and create visual presentations to help businesses make more strategic decisions
- Use statistical tools to interpret data sets and prepare reports that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions based on relevant findings
- Write SQL queries to find answers to complex business questions
- Identify data quality issues and biases in data acquisition
- Coordinate with the engineering team to collect new incremental data
- Utilize data mining, model building and other analytical techniques to support internal initiatives
- Assist internal technical departments by providing meaningful insights using data sets
- Work with data scientists and leverage machine learning models that have been developed against Geotab's big data environment.
Required experience/skills:
- College degree or certificate in business analysis or college degree in computer science, electrical or software engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related field
- Experience working with Tableau, power BI
- 3-5 years of experience as a data analyst with proven proficiency in SQL is required
- Exposure to data science tools such as Python, Pandas and NumPy is nice to have
- Experience working with Big Data and an understanding of the techniques used to extract value from very large data sets is essential
- Experience with database design and query writing is essential for success in this role
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools such as Scikit-learn and Tensorflow is a plus
- Experience working with Google Compute Engine and Google Bigquery is nice to have
- Bilingual (French / English)
