Beloeil, Quebec, June 13, 2019 – Provider of telematic solutions for the transportation industry, AttriX Technologies applauds Transport Canada’s decision to move forward and adopt the Canadian rules that will make it mandatory for Canada to two years ago, the use of electronic time recording devices in the trucking industry. Present at the press conference of Canada’s Minister of Transport, Marc Garneau, AttriX Technologies President-Founder, Anthony Mainville, highlights the Minister’s leadership in the adoption of the regulation, which responds to the repeated requests of the major transportation associations in Canada.
“The adoption of this new regulation demonstrates how things can evolve, to build an industry that cares for the safety of road users, while pushing our Canadian fleets to operate to the highest standards of compliance for the good of all, “said Anthony Mainville.
Issues related to safety and hours of service have quickly become hot topics nationally. Transport Canada reports that road user fatigue is a recurring factor in 20% of accidents. Transport Canada is counting on the introduction of DCE certified solutions to significantly reduce the number of fatalities involving trucks.
AttriX also welcomes the decision to opt for independent third-party certification of the solutions offered by the various DCE suppliers, a decision that will allow Canadian fleets to guide their choice to trusted suppliers.
“We welcome the news with great enthusiasm,” says Anthony Mainville. “We are pleased that the Canadian government has learned from the US experience where suppliers benefit from a self-certification system. ”

With more than 1.5 million Geotab devices in circulation around the world, AttriX and Geotab are confident of getting their DCE solution certified as soon as the certification process is initiated by Transport Canda.
“During the US ELD implementation of 2017, we saw many fleets wait till the last minute to onboard the technology due to different wrongfully publicized attempts to have the regulation pushed or changed. Thankfully fleets and drivers under the US regulation have learned to appreciate the many benefits of ELD and, in turn, we’ve been seeing most Canadian Fleets adopting ELD for Canadian use simply for its operational and safety benefits way before the present announcement,” says Anthony Mainville.
As such, both driver and fleet adoption will be considerably smoother than the previous US mandate and much easier for ELD manufacturers as most of the principles have already been implemented and tested.
Over the next few weeks, AttriX will closely monitor the progress of important files and take part in several discussions to share its expertise with the industry. Stay tuned for developments via our Facebook page or LinkedIn page.
