Mont St-Hilaire, Qc, July 14th 2022 - To date, 52 models of ELD devices and solutions have been certified by Transport Canada. Strengthened by these certifications, the CTA announced last week that the January 1 implementation date of the Canadian ELD regulations would be maintained, notwithstanding any pitfalls that may arise between now and then. Despite some provinces being late in developing their legislation concerning the ELD, a further delay is not expected.
For its part, the province of Quebec expects to be ready in time. In fact, the Quebec Trucking Association expects its regulations to be finalized shortly. Taking into account the time required to deploy this new technology, which varies between 4 and 8 weeks depending on your telematics provider, certain actions must be taken now. At this stage, since the vast majority of fleets are already equipped with the device and a solution, the real issue lies in the support and training offered to the teams involved in the deployment of the ELD.
In order to be fully prepared for the January 1st implementation and to benefit from it, it is essential to hire a certified compliance expert to train and accompany both your drivers and your dispatchers. Dispatcher training is not to be overlooked. It allows for an understanding of the challenges faced by drivers on the road and better collaboration, but also the recognition of opportunities to optimize the management of operations involving ELD. With professional assistance, your team will gradually gain the necessary expertise in terms of WFDs, hours of service and compliance leading to optimal and stress-free use of electronic logs.
In response to the shortage of compliance specialists, AttriX now offers a training and coaching service to assist fleets in this important technological shift. Our specialized service will allow you to benefit from a reduction in costs related to violations, an improvement of your HVOO file, as well as a better efficiency thanks to the automation of processes. In order to maintain compliance within your fleet, the AttriX team has also developed the exclusive AttriX Compliance solution which ensures a proactive monitoring of compliance in real time.
