ELD Mandate: Here are the Skills that Drivers Need to Acquire

Mont-Saint-Hilaire, QC, April 2021 – As a follow-up to our previous article on necessary manager skills, today our training team is providing you with an ELD (Electronic Logging Device) driver skills checklist. Use this as a benchmark to assess whether you have all the knowledge you need to be ready for deployment.

✓ Connect to the Geotab Drive app
✓ Attach a vehicle
✓ Attach the trailers
✓ Verify the daily logs
✓ Manage the unassigned logs

DVIR (Circle check)  

✓ Start a new inspection
✓ Certify the previous inspection
✓ Declare a defect
✓ Declare a repair

Dashboard 

✓ Asset management (vehicle/trailer/shipments)
✓ Manage the rule set

Hours of Service 

✓ View and analyze the Hours of Service
✓ Make a manual status change
✓ Edit, annotate and correct a status
✓ Identify and report malfunctions
✓ Accept or reject a change of status proposal
✓ Verify logs (signature)

Roadside Inspection

✓ Send HOS via email
✓ Generate a compliance report on screen
✓ Send the inspection sheet (Circle check (DVIR)) via email
✓ Generate a Security Round report on screen

Log out 

✓ Logout of the application
✓ Ensure a complete logout

Additional procedures 

✓ Create the custom signature
✓ Change the password (if required)
