California Emissions Act. You Will Have to Comply to It!

Since January 1, 2012, the regulations require that trucks and diesel buses operating in California be upgraded to reduce gas emissions. Trucks and buses must meet the requirements for particulate filtering.

Non-compliant vehicles were to be replaced as of January 1, 2015. As of January 1, 2023, almost all trucks and buses will be equipped with a 2010 engine or equivalent.

Following a court decision involving the California Trucking Association (CTA), the planned 2014 claims against the truck and bus regulations have been rescinded. Certain exemptions that could be claimed in 2018 in relation to the transport vehicle will no longer be available in 2019 or may have different eligibility criteria.

Starting in 2020, only vehicles compliant with truck and bus regulations will be registered by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

If you are using an exemption, it is essential and a priority to accurately enter the vehicle information, VIN (serial number), license plate and engine characteristics into the compliance system (CAM). Failure to report could delay your registration at the California DMV office.

Good road!
